Below are some pictures from the marina we are currently staying in and the damage sustained on property from Hurricane Katrina.  We came through with no damage other than a shredded yacht club flag and only dirt, debris and LOADS of sand to clean up.  Others in the marina didn't fair so well.

We recorded 50kt winds here on the boat, but as you can see, other parts of the marina had MUCH stronger winds.  The damage shown here is just a few hundred yards from our dock, so we consider ourselves very lucky.  The sunset picture is from Wednesday night...the calm before the storm.
